"Easy enough for getting gas"
I tried using Upside for gas, and at least for a normal quick fill-up, it was straightforward. I pulled in, tapped the check-in button, and got gas like I usually would. There weren’t any extra weird steps or standing around waiting, which I appreciated. The cash back showed as pending afterward, so for my situation, it worked just fine...

"App Sent Me to the Wrong Places"
I used the app to find a couple of deals, but it sent me to the wrong spots twice. The deals weren’t actually at the locations it showed, which was really frustrating and wasted my time. I expected better, and at the very least, an apology would be appreciated...

"Promo codes usually work fine"
I mostly use Upside when I’m filling up on gas and the promo codes have been solid for me.
Most of the time they go through right away, then the cash back shows up once the receipt clears. I did have one code not work once but support got it fixed after a little back and forth.
I’m taking off one star because it can be kinda slow sometimes, but overall it does what it says and I still use it regularly

"Still worth using"
I like that Upside still works even when I use my grocery and gas loyalty cards. Some offers are a little lower if you have other discounts but most of mine still track without any issues. It took me a bit to figure out at first but now it’s easy to use. It’s not perfect but it’s nice getting a little money back on stuff I was already going to buy.

"Decent app, but card linking could be clearer"
I’ve used Upside a handful of times, and linking my card wasn’t the worst thing ever, but it wasn’t exactly smooth either. It took me a couple tries before it finally showed up right. One of my gas purchases tracked without any issues, but another one took a while, and I wasn’t really sure if it went through or not. That part could be explained better in the app. Overall, it ain’t bad, but it’s a little annoying when you can’t tell if your card is actually connected properly.

Some of my trips tracked fine, and then others just didn’t show up at all. At this point I’m kind of tired of chasing down yet another app/service issue, so I just gave up trying to figure out why. It’s frustrating because it should be something you can just set and forget.

I had a bit of trouble getting into my Upside account at first because the verification wasn’t going through. To be fair, I tried it again and it worked without much hassle. After that, I was able to access everything just fine. It wasn’t really confusing, just a matter of following the steps. Overall, smooth and it didn’t take long.

"Good idea, but the app has been frustrating"
I really like the idea of Upside and I want to use it more, but lately the app has been so glitchy that it’s kind of a pain, like it freezes when I’m trying to upload receipts and sometimes it just crashes while I’m still at the gas station, which is super annoying because I’ve had to restart my phone twice just to get it working again. Support was okay and they did respond, but the tech issues make the whole thing feel more frustrating than it should.

I tried using upside after a gas stop on my trip, and it was simple. I just uploaded my receipt afterward, which I thought might be annoying, but it didn’t really take long at all. I’m mostly paying attention to the approval process, and from what I’ve seen, it can be kind of hit or miss. Sometimes it goes through without any issues, and other times it feels like there’s no clear reason why it doesn’t. The gas price was actually the same as what the app showed, so that was good. I was just a little annoyed because the communication around it wasn’t very clear, and I wasn’t sure what to expect until I got there.

I’m not a fan of having to reach a minimum before you can cash out. I used the app a few times, but now my money is just kinda sitting there doing nothing. It feels pointless unless you’re using it nonstop, tbh.

My cashback had a little disappearing act, so I reached out to support. To their credit, they did reply... eventually. It took longer than I’d hoped, but they fixed it in the end, so I guess that’s a win? Not terrible, not amazing—just a very average adventure in waiting.

I mostly downloaded upside to try the grocery and restaurant offers, and it’s been inconsistent for me. Some deals look decent when you first see them, but then the cash back ends up being so small that it barely feels worth opening the app. Or it doesn’t track the way I expected, which is frustrating because then you’re left wondering if you did something wrong or if it’s just... whatever.
The restaurant offers have probably annoyed me the most. I’ll upload a receipt and then wait way longer than I think I should, and sometimes I just don’t get anything back. Grocery options around me are limited too, so I can’t say it’s totally useless, but I also don’t feel like I’m saving enough to make it part of my routine. Maybe if there were better offers nearby, but as it is, not really.

I’ve been using it for a bit the coverage is kind of limited. It works fine in some spots, but then I’ll move just a little—like even walking into another room, and suddenly it’s not as reliable. Not terrible, but I do wish it covered more area.
